Audience feedback

Georgia Corrigan, 17. A2 Film Studies student.

"The rain is a good effect."
"Extend on the war element, and maybe another piece of music underneath the rain effect. Change the music from the radio to sound more realistic as a diegetic sound."

Luke, 16. AS Media student.

"I think the shot of the hands opening the card is too long, and should be cut down to help the scene flow better."

Amy Wright, 17. A2 Media student.

"I think maybe the shot when she is sat on the bed, lent over, is too long. You could make the black and white shot blurry around the edges using matrox mask tool to connote a dream or memory. I really like the scene when she is looking through the doorway into the dinning room. It makes you think he is dead."

Robert Gibbs, 18. A2 Film and A2 Media student.

"Very good shot of the petal falling. Good that it puts the story across without directly telling the audience. Great use of the sepia tone to suggest the audience that it is not real."

Josh Worthington, 18. A2 Film and A2 Media student.

"Good song choice, and good edit of lighting. Ambient sound is effective and the re-use of the song. I like the dutch angle when looking at the protagonist looking at the picture of her and her husband together."

Changes to my film

Changes:

These two shots are extras shots I included to develop the narrative further  The connotations of the bottom image imply that she is looking at war related news articles because of her husband being killed in action. With this shot being juxtaposed with the previous shot of her husband in the door way, in the sepia tone, imply s her husband isn't alive anymore, and has died due to war related incidents.

This shot off my protagonist turning on the radio before she begins to prepare breakfast and sees her husband sitting his armchair, allows to audience to remember when she was happy with her husband. Initially the song is non-diagetic at the beginning of the film, but when it is repeated again when she is alone it becomes diagetic. The repeat of the song reminds the audience of the couple together, and is a motif of the emotions connected to this song.

The final shots of the protagonist looking the picture of her and her husband together in her purse, then walking towards the door and switching the light off connotes she is leaving the memories of her and her husband behind and 'turning the lights off' on their relationship.

Music ideas

This is one idea for the music that will be introduced to my film when my protagonist switches on the radio in the kitchen. The lyrics to this song will go well and support my narrative, and the meaning behind my choice of clips and the mis-en-scene.

Ambient sound ideas

With the sound of rain running throughout the second half of my sequence, when my protagonist is on her own, it will resemble her tears and the idea that she is mourning for her deceased husband. I will then incorporate extra shots of my protagonist turning on the radio in the kitchen, which will then play diagetic sound over top of the sound of rain.
